Shanneyganock - Home In My Harbour
Home In My Harbour

Building on the momentum that was created with “Rockin On The Water” the latest CD “Home In My Harbour” by Shanneyganock, is by far the strongest and best work that the band has done to date. The CD features high energy songs with a mostly Newfoundland flavour.

As is the trademark of Shanneyganock, the party atmosphere of their Live shows carries through to the CD. The powerful vocals of Chris Andrews punctuates the recording, while the voice and accordian of Mark Hiscock gives the record the distinct Newfoundland sound.

The first single & video “Music & Friends” has Bud Davidge from SIMANI sharing lead vocals with Mark Hiscock.

Shanneyganock is able to find some diamonds in the rough each time they embark on a new recording project and this time is no exception. ”Newfoundland” written by Lem Snow sets the tone for the CD. “Downhome” an Alabama song is given a Newfoundland flavour. “One More Will Stand” written by Chris Andrews tells the story & tragedy of Beaumont Hamel.

Jim Payne’s “Rig Workers Alphabeth” spells out life working offshore on drill rigs. J.P. Cormier’s song “Molly May” & Leon Dubinsky’s “Home In My Harbour” are songs related to the sea which is so much a part of Newfoundland life.

This CD as with all Shanneyganock recordings will have your heart racing even if you're not dancing.
Selections on the CD include: Newfoundland, Headed Back To St. John's, Girls Of NL, Home In My Harbour, Harbour Grace, Molly May, Downhome, Thirty Days In Jail, Music And Friends, Rig Workers Alphabeth, One More Will Stand

Harry Hibbs - Off The Floor (Songs From The Harry Hibbs Shows)
Harry Hibbs Off The Floor

Between 1969 and 1976, a phenomenon of Canadian television happened when an unlikely star rose in the form of Harry Hibbs. The shy accordion player from Bell Island Newfoundland was featured weekly in a show first hosted from the Caribou Club in Toronto, and then from the Newfoundland Club in Galt, Ontario (now Cambridge).

The shows were aired on CHCH Hamilton and despite reaching over 100,000 viewers weekly in Eastern Canada, it was never shown in Harry's homeland.

Terry Hynes was a show host & the guitarist for At The Caribou and he remembered, "People would dress up like they were going to a wedding! That club was the start of bringing all of us from Newfoundland together. She was a fine time!”

Manny Pittson was the producer for the shows, having been at the helm of Don Messer's Jubiliee. "We used to record the backing tracks in a wrestling ring up in Hamilton," Pittson recalled. "The lights around the the neighbourhood used to dim when we started recording at the club.”

"We got a party going," said Ray Kent, Harry's first manager. "And Harry got that music going and he opened up people's hearts, they smiled more and they said, 'Do it again, Harry!' It was Newfoundlanders at their very best.”

The songs on this disc are the last surviving recordings from 7 years and over 150 shows. They represent a significant part in the Hall of Fame career of Newfoundland's Favourite Son, Harry Hibbs.
Selections on the CD include: Harry's Two Step, Harbour Grace / Golden Slippers (Live), Four Mary's, Roses Are Blooming (2017 Mix), Squid Jigging Ground, Rakes of Mellow (Live), Cliffs of Baccalieu, Rock Island Jig / Lili Marlene (Live), I'se da B'y, Paddy McGinty's Goat / Twiggle Toe (Live), Fella from Fortune, Minstrel Boy (Live), Ryans & Pittmans, The Humour Is on Me Now (Live), Memories

Simani - The Instrumental Side Of
Simani

The Newfoundland musical duet, SIMANI, have been a cornerstone in traditional Newfoundland music. Formed in 1977 by Bud Davidge and Sim Savory, their music helped keep our unique heritage alive by putting old stories to song and recording local jigs and reels, many that had never before been recorded. There is no doubt that SIMANI are a household name in Newfoundland and Labrador and surely there is a recording or two of SIMANI in virtually every house in the province, as well as in many expatriate Newfoundlander’s homes around the world.

Nearly all of SIMANI's recorded songs are originals, written by Bud Davidge who was also the vocalist for the group. Sim Savory is a gifted musician, being a master of many instruments, as well as a very talented sound engineer. That variety of talent worked very well for SIMANI and it showed in the quality of their recordings.

In a musical career that lasted from 1977 to 1997, SIMANI were stars with major radio airplay and sold out shows wherever they performed. Their albums were mostly recorded at Sim's studio in Belleoram.

Unfortunately for the Newfoundland music scene Sim passed away in 2010 but Bud is still releasing solo recordings.

In 2002 SIMANI (Bud & Sim) were recognized for their long term contributions to the East Coast Music Industry by being presented with the Stompin' Tom Award at the East Coast Music Awards. In 2008 Bud and Sim were awarded the Music NL Lifetime Achievement Award.

SIMANI have an extensive catalogue of songs. Bud Davidge is quite an accomplished writer and singer and Sim gave that signature Simani instrumentation and sound to every recording.
